Feeling Good

Feel good after...
  • a day at the pool yesterday.
  • sitting in the backyard on a hot, HOT summer night with Brian.
  • making my first sale on eBay.
  • sleeping in until 8:00. (Thank you, William!)
  • scrubbing the kitchen floor this morning.
  • ordering 50-some pictures to update William's baby book. (Finally!)
  • sipping a cold frappuccino.

The Crack (Sippy) Cup

For some time now, we have been trying to get William to drink from a sippy cup during his meal times. I'm still nursing 3-4 times a day but he's not getting much so I want to be sure he's well hydrated by giving him liquids along with his regular meals. He has not been interested. I've tried pretty much everything. I bought a cup with a soft spout that feels like a bottle nipple. William thinks it's a chew toy. I've tried water, apple juice, orange juice and milk. Nothing. After many attempts he would just end up looking like he was trying to enter a wet t-shirt contest.

Finally yesterday at the grocery store I had a lightbulb moment. CHOCOLATE milk. Worked like a charm. For a minute he just started to chew on the spout like he usually does but when just a drop of that chocolately goodness came out he was hooked. "Once it hits your lips, it's so good!" (Old School)

Now just the dilema of switching him from chocolate milk back over to something that's actually good for him...

Yay, William!

No pictures to post today but I do have one update. William started a pretty fun activity yesterday. If Brian or I start clapping and chanting, "Yay, William!" he will join in and start clapping as well. It's the first thing that has really let me know that he is growing out of his infant stage and into his toddler stage. It's bitter sweet as I think most moms will tell you.

In other news, the Nash weekend consists of a trip to Alexandria to attend a wedding for my good high school friend, Jeanine. It should be a good time with lots of fun reunions of old friends. A HUGE thanks to my sister who will be joining us as William's personal babysitter. Thanks, Aunt Jackie!

A photo journal of the cabin as told by William

First we went on this really long car ride but I was pretty good. Mom fed me lunch in the back and then I slept most of the way. When I was awake I was having fun playing peek-a-boo with mom.

In the morning I would have fun in the pack 'n' play with my cousin, Patrick, while everyone else had breakfast and got ready for the day.

One night dad even let me play poker with him and Uncle Greg and papa. I was a really good boy and just sat there the whole time.

Every night nana gave us all baths and then we took a picture in our jammies. We missed Lauren.

This is the Boys Club. Addison doesn't like her nukie as much as we do.

Patrick and I like to trade our nukies. There's even a video we made of it.

That's all the pictures I have for now. It was a lot of fun playing with my cousins but I'm glad to be home because I was really tired. I'm taking lots of naps today.

Caffeine Boost

A huge hug around the neck to my surrogate brother, Santo, who surprised me at 9 a.m. this morning with a knock on the door and an extra large Caribou latte! You can't beat that. He can be sure he'll be getting extra prayers from me as he makes his way through law school.

How to know when your baby has outgrown his bouncy seat...

Busy Bees

I realize it's been a while since I have posted but it has been a busy summer week. The Nash family has kept active, but then again, who doesn't in the middle of summer? Our activites included, but are not limited to:
  1. A 4th of July pool/backyard party at Brian's brother's house. It was a mix of family which included all of Brian siblings (minus one), his parents and my sister and her fiance.
  2. A shopping trip in hunt of green attire (see #5) with my good friend, Jill, followed by a grilled kabob dinner.
  3. Professional pictures (to be posted soon) with all five Nash cousins. William was very well-behaved.
  4. A downtown Minneapolis concert Brian attended with his friend, Justin, and brother, Timmy.
  5. An Irish-themed bachelorette party for my good high school friend, Jeanine.
  6. A quick trip to Eau Claire to visit the Minus One sibling in #1, Mike. It was his 29th birthday and he is William's godfather so it was a must.

Now today I am playing catch-up with my house cleaning, email and lists, lists, lists. We pack up on Saturday morning to leave for the cabin so I am trying to be a diligent planner. Wish me luck! Hopefully it's not the last you've heard of me this week.

Family Time

We had a great weekend. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and better than that, we had nothing on the schedule so we were free to do whatever we wanted. After a little UV ray action Brian and I decided to hit up 4 o'clock mass at Ambrose. William was an angel. First time in a while that he hasn't been naughty. Naughty, of course, being a relative term as he is only seven months.

Then we headed over to Rainbow to pick up a few ingredients for Rigatoni with Squash and Prawns. This is our new thing. Every time we feel like indulging at an over-priced restaurant we find a good recipe on the Food Network and we make it ourselves. A great tip for anyone trying to pinch a buck without having to give up decadent food. Thanks, Giada.

After the little guy went down we watched Blood Diamond. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. The acting and storyline is great but a lot if it is hard to watch. The shooting and rampage and all the while knowing that this really happened.

On Sunday the UV rays were calling our names again. See previous post for the good times we had in the afternoon. And here's one more shot to close out.

Swingin' into July
